Swans’ three-window strategy
Swansea chairman Andy Coleman says their January transfer work has been ongoing since September and revealed the club are operating on a three-window transfer strategy.
Michael Duff’s men enjoyed a busy summer in the recruitment market – their most active for some time – but it is clear more work is needed to strength the Northern Irishman’s options to help move the club up the standings.
Coleman, in an update to supporters, says his ambitions have remained the same – that the club should be challenging for promotion – while also detailing the transfer work that is going on behind the scenes at Fairwood.

“The ambition to be a competitive Championship team that should be challenging for promotion has not changed, nor have my expectations,” he said.
“But there also has to be realism following considerable change across the playing squad and club.
“We continue to build processes that will allow us to work smartly and efficiently on and off the field. We have been preparing for the upcoming January transfer window since September and are also now operating in a three-window strategy to aid us in not just the upcoming window, but those beyond.
“As part of that undertaking, we recently appointed Gavin Levey as our academy manager.
“The academy is a huge part of this club’s history and its future, and I have no doubt Gavin will be a fantastic addition given his outstanding background in player development.”
Lowe: We need to work on confidence
Swansea striker Jamal Lowe says the “shackles went on” when they went 1-0 up against Ipswich Town.
The Tractor Boys emerged 3-2 winners in Landore last weekend despite going behind, with Jay Fulton giving the home side the lead in the seventh minute.
But Lowe feels the goal almost had a detrimental effect on their game plan.
“It was a tough game. They’re one of the best teams in the league, they play good football and they can mix it up,” he said. “We could have played a bit more. I think they forced us into playing longer and that doesn’t suit us, we don’t have the personnel for that style of play.
“We started well and went 1-0 up, but the shackles went on at that point. It should be the other way around, you should go 1-0 up and the confidence should be high. That’s something we can work on and do better.
“I felt that we could have done a lot better with some of the goals. Jack Taylor’s goal is an unbelievable strike, but we probably should have defended better for the other one and the penalty.”
He added: “I got a goal and an assist but, being ultra critical, I felt I should have had two goals. But we’ve just got to keep working so these goals and assists count instead of just almost getting us there.”
Cullen left out
Swansea striker Liam Cullen was left out of Rob Page’s matchday squad this afternoon for Wales’ crucial Euro 2024 qualifier against Armenia.
Page opted to have the attacking threats of Brennan Johnson and Daniel James on the bench, while David Brooks started alongside Kieffer Moore and Harry Wilson in attack.
