A Brazilian influencer has been barred from boarding a flight after arriving at the airport wearing nothing but a bikini and a bright blue wig.
The social media star, known online as Kine-Chan, hit out at officials on Instagram after they told her that her flesh-flashing outfit “wasn’t appropriate” airline attire.
The incident occurred at Navegantes Airport in southern Brazil back in August. Kine-Chin expressed her outrage online at the time; her post has now resurfaced due to a surge of global interest in her story.
“A very annoying situation happened this weekend!” the 21-year-old wrote beneath photos of her strutting through the departures lounge.
Kine-Chan claimed she was dressed as the character Rebecca from the popular anime series “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” and was en-route to a cosplay convention.
“I already knew I might be late, so I got dressed so as not to waste time and be able to go straight to my destination,” she said, explaining why she opted to wear the skimpy swimwear for the flight. “But I was told to go home and change my clothes because what I was wearing was not appropriate.’”
Kine-Chan — who boasts more than 670,000 followers on Instagram — didn’t disclose which airline she was planning to fly with, so its unclear whether the sci-fi fan was in breach of specific dress requirements.
One photo posted to her account shows the scantily-clad social media star speaking with two airline officials at a departures gate before she was ultimately turned away.
A number of Kine-Chan’s fans took to the comments section beneath her post saying that, while they adored her, they agreed with the decision to bar her from the flight.
“I’m glad it was blocked,” one wrote. “Ne respectful of other people… This is no place to wear lingerie or a bikini.”
Another concurred, saying “I love you, but for God’s sake… you could have worn something easy to take off over it, like a strapless dress or even a button-down blouse.”
Several people attacked the influencer, saying that the bikini stunt was nothing but a bid for attention.
Congratulations to the airport team, but we know that this was a strategy to get out in the media and hype your Instagram account, a good strategy despite being extremely vulgar and disrespectful towards other people,” they blasted.
