Gadar 2 box office collection Day 19: Sunny Deol’s period drama is set to benefit from the Rakhi holidays in the country this week.
Sunny Deol’s action drama Gadar 2 is breaking one record after another. On Tuesday, the film’s collection saw an upswing from the previous day as it collected approx. Rs 5.10 crore. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, this brings the film’s 19-day collection to Rs 465.75 crore.
The Anil Sharma directorial earned Rs 284.63 crore and Rs 134.47 crore in weeks 1 and 2, respectively. Gadar 2 is expected to benefit from the Rakhi holiday on Wednesday and Thursday in many parts of the country. As of day 19, the film continued to see a 19.79 per cent occupancy in the Hindi market with audiences flocking mostly to night shows, followed by evening, afternoon and morning.
The period drama is the third highest-grosser of all time (Hindi language) after Baahubali 2 and Pathaan. It also became the quickest film to cross the Rs 450 crore mark, beating Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. As it continued with its heroic run even on week 3, Sacnilk reported that Gadar 2 has also become the second Indian film to cross Rs 600 crore this year. As per Bollywood Hungama, the sequel to the 2001 hit now stands at Rs 608.95 crore (gross) after it earned Rs 60.56 crore in the overseas market.

Amid the film’s sensational success, speculations have surfaced regarding Sunny Deol’s increasing his remuneration to Rs 50 crore. In a recent conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Sunny dismissed these reports. He clarified that his fees for future projects will be decided when he signs his next film. The actor said, “First of all, I feel money matters are very personal. No one shares exactly what he or she earns, even to (the) close ones. Lekin main toh wahi hoon jahan main tha. Logon ka nazariya badal gaya hai (I am where I was, people’s perception has changed).” adding, “For me my family is my greatest wealth. Aur kya chahiye?”
Gadar 2 revolves around the character of Tara Singh, who crosses the border into Pakistan during the 1971 conflict in a bid to rescue his captive son. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film features a star-studded cast, including Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, Simratt Kaur, and Manish Wadhwa in pivotal roles.
